About us
Since their meeting in 2009, husband-and-wife team David Pecor and Cathy Owen had dreamt of owning their own restaurant. Through the years, their experiences together grew from high-volume Italian, hotel and restaurant management, and upscale seafood, to co-ownership in a craft BBQ restaurant. In 2023 they were able to purchase Surf’s Up Restaurant with a commitment to honoring the past and an eye to the future. Extensive travel and their time living in rural Vermont, coastal Texas, and now here in beautiful Virginia, drives their decision to source and support locally whenever possible. Their menu includes the highest quality local seafood, juicy Virginia burgers, craft BBQ, comforting sides, and delicious desserts. David, Cathy and their dedicated staff look forward to the years to come as they continue to serve the growing community of Poquoson and beyond.

Visited due to the recommendation of a friend and I must say that I was impressed with the service and food. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came in a decent time and had great flavor. The ahi tuna was very good.

Surfs Up is a great place to eat with local seafood and a very clean restaurant! It has always been good, however new ownership has taken it over and I believe it is even better! I highly recommend you stop by if you find yourself in Poquoson the new owners are fantastic people!

Fast, friendly, great atmoshere and the food is great and reasonable the desert is home made. People, don't sleep on this place if you want seafood this is the place to eat, you want be disappointed. I go at least once every 2 weeks for take out or dine in.

Friendly, customers and staff, fantastic service, really good food and plenty of it, nice wine and beer selection. My wife and I have dinner at Surf's up once a month and we have always been satisfied with the total experience, food, service and prices are great, highly recommend this restaurant.
